When handling files that do not fall directly under the BWF umbrella (files with unsupported chunks, RF64 files) BWF MetaEdit currently "blanks out" the interface in table mode and displays the errors.

While this is useful information, it may not be particularly intuitive to those who may not know that clicking one of the tabs will bring the user back to their table. It may not be within scope for the program to be instructive, but there may be a more helpful way for MetaEdit to display this information and provide options.

Some suggestions:

  • an errors popup
  • an "errors only" view (as in embARC)
  • turning the individual row in the table red with the same error text and an "ignore" or "force BWF compliance" button.

Would love to hear from others about how to improve this UX.
