The new f-droid client allows localisation of the appdescription

It would be great if stringlate supports this, too so app localisation and fdroid-description for the same app could be done in one rush.

Unfortunatley the fastlane format is non xml text only and uses other locales than java.

Example:

  • …/ToGoZip/app/…
    • the sourcecode for the android app ToGoZip
  • …/ToGoZip/app/src/main/res/values-de/strings.xml
    • app internal german translation
  • …/ToGoZip/fastlane/metadata/android/de-DE/full_description.txt
    • contains the german full description paragraph of the app ToGoZip.
  • …/ToGoZip/fastlane/metadata/android/de-DE/short_description.txt
    • contains the german one sentence short description of the app ToGoZip.

F-Droid supports other app localisaton formats, to but i have only used the "fastlane" format and no knowledge of the other formats.

Difference in locales java-fastlane

java uses either iso-language (i.e. de for germany) or full language+country (i.e. zh-rCN for simplified chineese (or chinese "zh" spoken spoken in mainland china "CN")

fastlane always uses the locale of the language+country which is used most.

i.e. java values-en corresponds to fastlane en-US (most english speakers live in the us.)

You can use ToGoZip as an example that current has 16 localized app descriptions. (i.e. https://github.com/k3b/ToGoZip/blob/master/fastlane/metadata/android/en-US/full_description.txt )

This is a special case of #124:

just a note tough, fdroid too has a weblate where these can be translated (if project wants that and fdroid adds it)
