what options do we have to replace python-daemon? its been pulled from centos/rhel repositories

thats both good news and bad news, tis good news because it sucked big time and needed to be replaced, bad news is that now it needs done. more bad news is that we are currently overcommitted on other projects, so I won't have time to look at it for a while :( anyone have a preferred "daemon" replacement. It would be nice if it were able to support both RHEL5/6 and 7 directly, but the key would be to daemonize the process, we could write a proper init script and probably eliminate most of that nonsense :)
