Hello

i upgraded LiS to 4.2.5-2 on 3 CentOS 7.5 (upgraded from 7.4).
These VM are standard gen1 with IDE controller hosted on a Windows 10 1803 x64

After reboot, LVM volumes are not found.

dracut:/# lvm pvscan

i had to reboot in recovery then uninstall LiS to resolve the issue.

Hello @WeetA34
What previous LIS version were you using on the VMs?

Hello @chvalean
as i remember, it was 4.2.4.
After uninstall in recovery mode, i rebooted in normal mode. I re-installed 4.2.5-2 but it didn't work too.

@WeetA34 let's resume this discussion if possible, we want to get to the bottom of it.
LIS 4.2.4 and all dot releases for it did not support CentOS 7.5, that was added only in LIS 4.2.5.

Trying to understand the distro and LIS steps you took:

  • have you had centos 7.4 with LIS 4.2.4 installed?
  • then without removing LIS you upgraded to CentOS 7.5?
  • that operation worked, and on top of this environment you ran the upgrade script for LIS?

Hello @chvalean
Exactly
I had CentOS 7.4 VMs with LiS 4.2.4 which have been upgraded to CentOS 7.5
Later, i upgraded LiS to 4.2.5.

After reboot, all VM failed

Same issues.
I have a gen2 VM on 2016 server.
Guest OS - CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 (Core), kernel 3.10.0-957.5.1.el7.x86_64, LVM
After install LIS 4.2.8-1, system not boot with error
