Automatic Check of provided PIDs

There is ELIXIR service called "Identifiers.org" and a correspondig API, which could be used to programatically check if PID's provided by the users metadata are correct or at least resolveable.
The check could be integrated into the material loading dialog or similar components...

It seems they don't have CORS enabled either, so asking them to set it up would be a first prerequisite step.

@Thyra Did you test it already ? If so, then I would suggest to open an issue and see if somthing happen.
Another useful alternative could be maybe "BioRegistry", but its quite new:
