I have some issue with the squelch. It seems to open only if there is a very strong signal, i.e. when the transmitter is only a few meters from the receiver. Changing the squelch setting doesn't seem to have any effect except when setting it to 0. The RSSI command however, seems to indicate signals ok, so I can see that there are signals from transmitters nearby but the squelch does not open. Any idea what this could be?

I was able to receive an APRS signal with one T-TWR Plus 2.0 located 1.5 km away from another T-TWR Plus 2.0 with LOW power setting , "stock" antennas and SQL=1 setting of SA868

With SQL=0, I am able to receive APRS signal from 25 km remote 50 Watt I-Gate with Yagi antenna made by Diamond.

It is possible that the noise level in my shack affects this but still. I can detect a significant rise in the RSSI level when another station about 1 km from here transmits, but the squelch still doesn't open. When operating outside, the squelch seems to open more easily. I could of course leave it open and try to detect signals in other ways. But how does this affect power usage?
