Release v1.3.1 revealed an existing problem for gFortran on macOS. The bugfix in 1.3.1 is not the trigger, but rather the test itself is just a bit more complicated and that is exposing an existing problem.
v1.3.1 works with other compilers and on other OS's (Linux) and even with gfortran 12 on macOS. This strongly suggests that the problem is in older gFortran, but a workaround is still highly desired. Investigation will be fun though, as the traceback information on macOS is not much help.
