Curious of the naming around Messages

This seems to be a divergence from the language used in the various DDD books I've read, which always refer to events as events or domain events, not messages. This odd terminology use is rather confusing - I see (and I'm sure many others do as well) see Messages as a notification term, either between users or computed systems - domain events are not that, or at least, it seems a blurring of the term.

Just curious is all, I'd happily change my opinion/stance if I better understood the context of the decision :)
