In principle I'd preferably only use models available under a CC license. However, models from 3D Warehouse are available under a more restrictive license (their "General Model License")). This allows free use in this project, and it seems to also support committing the models to a public Github repo (the only thing that would be prohibited is "distributing individual models", but it seems to me that that would be actively listing the models and promoting downloading the models, not merely including them in a larger repo). Still would be nice to contact the authors of the models to see if they'd be willing to make them available under a CC license.
