Either dpytest or bravosierra99/dpytest should really help to get some sort of command testing going
unfortunately the currently more developed fork isn't available on PyPi, manually installing the package would be needed which means additional hassle

Additional projects I found are distest and dismock with distest looking to be well maintained and updated
