Is it possible to prevent authors from editing the talk once the submission deadline has closed? Else, it might create confusion if the authors are editing the talk while their review is going on.

My experience of reviews is that it's useful to allow the author to edit the talk submission while a review is in progress, but this depend on how one sees the review process. If the goal is to evaluate the submission as in, then locking the submission at some point before review makes sense. For PyConZA we see the review process as a means to improve talk submissions, so locking the submission during the review doesn't make sense.
If you expand on your review process a bit more and when you'd like to see submissions locked, we can perhaps either implement a feature or suggest a way to achieve what you want.
