Theme requires an old version of Elementor?

@nuevenueve reports that trying the theme at another place breaks because it requires Elementor? This dependency should be removed; it should not know about the elementor plugin at all.

If I tried to activate elementor, I got the following error.
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Also, you can go to the following URL to check the test website after I installed the theme from the odh.byu.edu.

Ps: I might change the theme if it's needed.
