Cannot save layer to UNC path on CIFS server

Cannot save layer to UNC path on CIFS server.

Steps to reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to 'USD Stage Editor' and 'create stage new layer'
2. duble Click on 'anonymousLayer1'
3. Save to UNC path on CIFS server
4. See error:

UsdLayerEditor_SaveLayerFileDialog(1,"",0);
// Result: //hal/Projects/temp/test.usd
// Error: Insufficient permissions to write to destination directory '\\hal\Projects\temp'
// Error: Unable to open //hal/Projects/temp/test.usd for write

Share permissions are OK, we work on this server on daily basis.

Specs (if applicable):

• Windows 10
• Maya 2024.2
• Maya USD 0.25.0

The root issue is here: PixarAnimationStudios/OpenUSD#849
Maybe Autodesk can use it's majesty to bump this issue to a fix ?

This topic does seem to come up more than we'd like. We will try to find a solution.
